This course is designed to prepare students for the College Board Biology Advanced Placement Exam, and for subsequent college science courses. It provides students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically with the rapidly changing science of biology. Topics include the biochemistry of life, cellular biology, bioenergetics, heredity and molecular genetics, evolution theory, plant and animal structure and function, and ecology. All topics are considered from a biblical worldview, with academic discussion of various perspectives to provide a thorough understanding of the issues and preparation for the AP exam. Because the AP Biology exam requires extensive lab experience, almost all of the labs in this course are hands-on with emphasis on proper procedures and formal reporting.
