This is a studio course appropriate for both the beginner and more advanced painting student. This class will provide students the opportunity to use acrylic paints to creatively explore color theory, color mixing, problem solving, and the expressive handling of the medium. A command of techniques and materials, both traditional and experimental, will be taught. Students will build on the sight drawing/design principles learned in prior TPS Art 1 courses. Instructor feedback, historical examples, and peer critiques will be used extensively to help the students grow in their ability to critically analyze artwork — both their own and that of others. Short writing projects will complement the studio work.
