Grammar Foundations for Elementary and Middle School Writing

Course Catalog ID:
941
Subject Categories:
English Language Arts, Summer Course, Writing and Composition
Description

Grammar can be practical and fun! By focusing on sound mechanics and accurate sentence structure, this course will tie students’ grammar and mechanics directly to their writing, showing them how it all fits together. The course explores the parts of speech in a creative format, crafting sentences with the building blocks of language: words, phrases, and clauses. Visual aids with color coding and simple explanations provide the student a fun and easy approach to learning. The course starts with the basic sentence patterns and builds increasingly sophisticated sentence structures with phrases and clauses. Using diagramming, students learn to analyze sentences by breaking down the parts, understanding the components, and rebuilding stronger sentences with mature sentence structure. Students correct their own daily work with a key, and there are also two tests to check progress and encourage study for retention.

“Grammar Foundations is an in-depth grammar class that builds a sold foundation to the English language. This class strengthened my daughter’s writing in her TPS classes and love for English.”
