Description

This guided study course focuses on strategic preparation and practice for the English, Reading, and Writing portions of the SAT and the ACT, as well as the optional essay. The course familiarizes students with the exam and seeks to help students reduce potential test-taking anxiety. There is extensive instruction on test-taking strategies particular to these exams, including guided practice in and outside of class. Students review and practice critical reading strategies to quickly move through reading passages, vocabulary review and strategies for in-context deduction, and proofreading skills to spot grammar and style errors in sentences. An additional session on the essay writing section, focusing on writing directly and quickly to a prompt and utilizing concrete examples, concludes the course.
