“This was a fun and challenging summer course. The teacher did a great job during class to help us figure out methods or techniques that suited us for how to study, how to deal with stress or anxiety with tests, and how to manage our time. She did a really good job at showing why these techniques will help us in life by explaining parts of her life where these techniques or methods really helped her. I definitely learned a lot from this class such as the Cornell Note-taking Method, SQ3R, and figuring out different ways to manage my time. The homework was challenging and took me a little bit of time, but I definitely learned a lot from it. Overall, this was a fun class and I am glad that I took it!”

AP,

“This course will very much open your eyes as to the complexity of the governmental institutions which can majorly affect our lives as civilians. I don’t think I’ll ever look at another presidential debate or hear about a new bill that is trying to be passed without remembering the things I learned in this class! And that’s amazing!”

Global Languages

“This course gave me an excellent understanding of basic Spanish grammar. Each week had new verbs, vocabulary, and grammar concepts for me to learn. I learned more Spanish in this TPS course than any other Spanish class I’ve taken before. This class was intense, but worth it.”

Music

“This course is great for anyone who wants to not just play music but to see how it works. After an introduction to the fundamental principles, the course dives into the chords and patterns that make up today’s music. If you want to take the step from reading music to interpreting and composing it, this course is for you.”

English Writing and Literature

“English 3 Intrigue and Illusion was one of my favorite classes this school year. The literature was phenomenal and opened my eyes to the fact that analyzing stories and poems can help me understand what I read in a deeper sense. Now when I read books or watch movies in my spare time, I use those skills I have developed. It allows those tasks to become so much more meaningful. The poetry section in this class really helped me understand some of the complex passages in the Bible. Since the Bible is essentially one-third poetry, analyzing poetry sharpened my senses in what to look for when reading my Bible. Another area I feel I really grew in is my ability to prove a claim with evidence. That is a skill I will use all of my life, from college to even just having a friendly conversation or argument with someone. I definitely recommend this class if those are areas you want to strengthen.”

“I would recommend this course to others because it covers topics that many kids today don’t know about, like taxes, investing, insurance, credit and debit cards, and different types of loans. Taking this class will help you make better financial decisions and be more informed in general about your personal finances.”

Photography Videography

“Out of all the classes I have ever taken, this was my favorite. The teacher is funny and encouraging and always has thoughtful feedback on the photos. My classmates and I also developed a very special relationship. Since we present photos every week, we get a sneak peek into each other’s lives, which leads to fun conversations. We also encouraged each other and pushed each other to master the art of photography. It was so fun to take photos for homework. It provided a break from the regular homework and worked a part of my brain that is not normally used in my schoolwork. This class developed a love of photography in me that I predict will last for a while.”

Math, TPS

“I love this class! It’s perfectly-paced and the teacher is awesome. I’ll admit, when I started TPS two years ago I pretty much hated math. But now I actually enjoy learning about it and figuring out how to solve problems! I would definitely recommend TPS Math!”
