English Writing and Literature

“This course has helped increased my vocabulary greatly through the prefixes, suffixes, bases, and everything else that we learned. More importantly, it brought me to see the unique ways that languages are formed, as well as the evolving of the English language. What I learned really amazed me — I never knew how cool languages can be!”

Bible

“Amazing class! I really enjoyed getting to watch lots of movies and then discussing and learning the broader, deeper contexts and meanings the movies reflected. I felt like I gained a lot more depth and nuance to my understanding of philosophy and different worldviews. Some of the discussions we had have come up again in conversations already this summer. It was a really engaging and useful class!”

Science

“I learned SO MUCH through this course. The curriculum introduces concepts in a way that they tie together in future chapters, and where everything fits into a big picture. This is great for students’ understanding, since they can see how science is interrelated and connected!! The interactive online materials are also really helpful! With more academic rigor, we go deeper in the material, which also means we benefit more from it. The material was extremely difficult for me in certain areas, but my teacher made sure to answer ANY questions I had. He responds to emails quickly with very detailed answers, makes class entertaining and humorous, works through problems with extreme detail and care, and shows passion for what he is teaching. I love this course so much, despite how challenging it was for me. All the time and energy spent on this course was worth it.”

Elementary, English Writing and Literature

“The grammar course was specific and covered a lot of information that schools skip over. It simplifies a lot of them, too, and there are mnemonic devices that make things easier to remember. I really liked the course.”

English Writing and Literature

“E2 was a lot of fun! I had a great time interacting with the other students and the teacher during the school year. The class kept you right on course with the homework. The novels were fun to read, and the film unit was a great way to wrap up the year. I would definitely recommend TPS English for anyone who wants a fun, challenging school year!”

“I have never taken such an insightful class. Not only did the instructor teach me the proper way to write an essay, but also how to analyze a story. He takes the ‘simplest’ stories and reveals to the class the profound meanings behind them. I would highly recommend this course.”

AP,

“I really enjoyed this class. This is not only an AP test prep class, but also a full high school U.S. history course. I take the AP test soon and I feel well-prepared. I appreciated the weekly video segment to help us specifically on writing AP essays. We also went beyond the textbook in class discussions which were super interesting and helped me gain more perspective on U.S. history.”

English Writing and Literature

“English 2 was exactly what I needed! The teacher knows her stuff and teaching comes naturally to her. I’ve never been the biggest fan of writing but this class made the whole process so much easier! It provides a specific writing format which we use in every essay and I will use for a lot of my writing in the future. I truly believe that my writing is a lot better after this class. The literature in this class is also great! I enjoyed most of the books we read. We always had great classroom discussions about themes and characters and occasionally met in breakout rooms for fun activities! The grammar in this class is also amazing. The book we use is so clear and helpful! Overall, I really liked this class! The workload wasn’t too bad at all and most of the assignments are weekly so it’s easy to plan them into your schedule.”

“This course was great for me because it had a good amount of homework, including reflection assignments, not overwhelming but enough to make me feel that I had understood the material. I learned a lot of studying, reading, listening, and notetaking techniques and strategies that I think will prepare me for the upcoming year!”
