Description

This is a hands-on, project driven class that studies art and artists from the Renaissance to Modern Times. Focusing on a few master artists each week, students will learn about the artists and art movements, and complete a related art project. Through games, discussions, presentations, recorded demonstrations, and virtual field trips, we will explore the elements of art, investigate the art of various cultures, and create artwork inspired by the works we study. With an emphasis on exploring and experimenting with various media, students are exposed to a wide range of materials and techniques. Students will learn to identify and explain the visual elements of artwork — including their own art — in light of a Christian worldview. In addition, students will explore biblical truths reflected in art through the centuries. This class will teach students to appreciate great art while developing creativity and confidence in their own unique abilities.

“This was an amazing way to learn more about art history and how to work with different mediums. The classes were so fun and the assignments each week reflected what we had learned. It was a joy to have a good piece of art that I was proud of make it into my collection of art each week!”

“The teacher is phenomenal. During the course of the year, we learned about numerous artists and how they were inspired to become artists. We learned their various styles and tried to implement them into our own art. Class times were extremely fun and educational and through our art, we grew in our range and ability. I would highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to have fun with art and practice a vast array of artistic styles.”
