This course looks at history through the lives and contributions of great “saints” of the Christian faith. The course follows the text Christian History Made Easy, supplemented by short biographical books from the Heroes of Faith and Heroes of History series, including: Constantine, Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, Christopher Columbus, William Wilberforce, John Wesley, Clara Barton, D.L. Moody, Corrie Ten Boom, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Billy Graham. The course starts with the Apostles and the establishment of the earliest churches, progresses through the turbulent Middle-Ages, and ends in Modern times. Background topics covered include the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, the Protestant Reformation, Colonialism and the spread of Christianity into the New World, and the modern U.S. and worldwide churches. Parents are welcome to listen in too!
