This engaging and highly interactive reading course guides students to take the leap from reader to thinker. Through interactive presentations, guided practice, engaging discussions, and shared reading of a variety of fiction and nonfiction, students will take their reading skills to the next level. “Book Talks” and other group activities designed to express understanding in creative ways will elevate comprehension and bring in higher-level thinking. Students will be taught to think more actively and effectively about what they read, and encouraged to pursue additional reading on their own for both school and pleasure.
