Financial Literacy for Teens and Young Adults

Is Your Teen Ready?

More than two-thirds of juniors and seniors in high school feel unprepared to manage their finances, according to an 2023 financial literacy survey.

A Forbes report found that that 87% of U.S. teens say they do not understand personal finances.

Half of the U.S. states now require a financial literacy course for high school graduation, with multiple others on the verge of adopting the requirement.

Personal Finance Course

TPS has added a completely new Personal Finance course designed to directly address this need for today’s teens in a world where banking is online, money is exchanged or invested with apps, and phones have replaced wallets and purses.

Topics include budgeting, managing accounts, credit and debit cards, fraud awareness, income taxes, insurance types and considerations, investment types and basic strategies, renting versus owning a home, automobile ownership, retirement planning, and more.

Assignments are practical exercises that build knowledge and skills rather than quizzes or exams.

This semester class may be taken with relaxed attendance or by recording to fit a busy schedule. It may also be taken for no credit to accommodate a challenging academic semester.

Teacher has a bachelor’s in Finance, a master’s in Business (MBA), and 30 years of experience in financial and business fields
